Mission Statement

We are followers of our Lord Jesus Christ who are committed to His Word and to each other. As a Christian family who share biblical beliefs and values, we strive to glorify God and model our ministry after Jesus Christ. Scripture teaches us to: worship God, proclaim the message to the spiritually lost, provide encouragement and restoration for the brokenhearted, to help one another grow in spirtitual commitment and strengthen, serve and bond together in love and fellowship through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Community Food Pantry: In cooperation with other churches, we help to provide basic food supplies to residents of Jefferson Township who are in need. The Food Pantry is open Tuesdays 2:30-4:30 and the second Saturday of each month from 9-10 a.m.

Help to the Hurting: Through the Inner Healing Ministry, we seek to follow the words of Jesus in Luke 4, “...to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed...”

Women’s Retreat: Our annual women’s retreat is held each spring. It provides a time for women to have lots of fun, lots of fellowship and a meaningful time of being in the Lord’s presence.

Missions: JBC supports missions locally as well as in the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Russia, India, various church plants, and the Brethren Retreat Center. Brethren missionaries and others are also supported.

LYNC: (Letting Your Neighbor Care) LYNC is a summer outreach ministry of JBC to families in Jefferson Township. Children who have completed K-6th grade learn about Jesus, are involved in games, crafts, music, group time and Biblical instruction.

Creation Station Preschool: The goal of Jefferson Brethren Church Preschool is to provide a motivated learning atmosphere for 3 and 4 year olds which emphasizes Christian living through social play in the areas of sharing, self-esteem and motor skills.

God’s Trekkers and Mini Trekkers: Songs, games, lessons and musicals are all tools that are used to help kids age 4 through Grade 5 learn God’s Word at JBC Nite. The Trekker receives awards for the tasks they have mastered at the Court of Knowledge Service which is held twice a year.

Beliefs

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe that God the Father is the sovereign creator, sustainer and perfector of all things.

We believe in the full deity and humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning sacrifice by His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His approaching personal return in power and glory.

We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts people of sin, leads them to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, indwells all believers, empowers believers to live Godly lives, and bestows gifts for the ministry of the church.

We believe that we are saved by God's grace, apart from human works; that this grace makes possible our response of repentance and faith in the atoning work of Christ; and that our faith should bear fruit in lives of commitment and loving service.

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative written word of God, and our sufficient rule for both faith and practice.

We believe that Christians are called to active participation in a local body of believers, and that all believers are united by the Holy Spirit in a spiritual body of which Christ is the Head.

We believe in the resurrection and judgment of both the saved and the lost. The saved will enter into eternal life in God's presence, while the lost will be condemned to eternal separation from God.

History

Originally members met in private homes followed by two modular units in its current location. The charter of Jefferson Brethren Church was established in January of 1969. The name is derived from the area in which it is located, namely, Jefferson Township of Elkhart County. Through the years, it has grown in ministry, membership, staff, facilities and in active Christian love. The church is actively involved in Children, Youth and Adult Education, Bible Study, Preschool, and fellowship.
